Learning Styles
There are different ways in which a person learns. Identifying the way in which you learn can be important when researching and learning new things. It will be easier understood and quicker to actually get your head round it.
Sensing Style – People with this style tend to be focused on aspects of the physical environment. These learners tend to be more interested in the environment and the external world then others. They learn from practical experience. These learners prefer order and routine in learning and can adapt to changing situations and changing environments.
Intuitive Style - Intuitive learners prefer to make sure they understand the meaning behind what they learn. They prefer conceptual, innovative and theoretical information; they look for the meaning.
Visual Style – Visual learners like to see the concept explained via graphs, pictures and diagrams; they look for visual forms of information.
Verbal Style – Verbal learners are listeners and readers. They understand information when listening to it being explained or reading it.
Global Style – Global learners understand the main aspect of the information before getting into the details and actually understanding the information fully by putting things together.
Sequential Style – These learners like to learn the small details first by learning in an orderly fashion then learn the big picture.
Active Style - Active learners learn by actually going and doing the thing, physically doing it and learning from it.
Reflective Style – Reflective learners like to think things through learning by analysis. They learn better by figuring out the problem by themselves.
Vark Learning Style
I have gone online and have quizzed myself on what type of a learner I am myself. It turns out that I am a multi-learner which means that I have no specific learning style, which I learn visually, aurally, reading and writing and kinetically. However visually and kinetically is the most effective.

Will knowing my preferred learning style help me?
Personally I prefer learning by doing, learning what I can do with it and what I can’t do with it. Example would be if I was to get a new game for the Xbox I would never look up the controls I would play the game testing the buttons to then know what they do. Reading and writing I do not find very effective to me. Knowing my Vark results show that I learn better kinetically so from this I will continue to learn in this style more then the other learning styles.
